Augusta Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Tumor (and more) Healing with Frankincense and Myrrh
Frankincense and myrrh, two venerated gifts obtained from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia and the Commiphora, respectively – make marvelous partners in healing! Both have been incorporated throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, particularly Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more properties address issues with a variety of health conditions, many that Lombardy Chiropractic Clinic knows bother our Augusta chiropractic patients and/or loved ones who may want to understand better!
THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh
Chinese medicine esteems frankincense and myrrh for their wide-ranging helpful health effects. Used together, their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and notably for anti-tumor effects prevented growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh are elements of an anti-tumor drug for a variety of cancers with recent research presenting its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By monitoring pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and targeting the blood vessels that nourish tumors in HCC. Tumor volume was decreased, and pathological structure was lessened with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh modulated urotheilial wound healing to help symptoms of acute interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome. (3) The frankincense/myrrh comination is a winning/healing one!
NEUROPATHIC PAIN
Lombardy Chiropractic Clinic appreciates combinations of treatments to help our Augusta chiropractic patients looking for healing. Chinese medicine addresses diabetic neuropathy, a serious complication of diabetes and trigger of kidney disease, by controlling pathways involved in the glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-fibrosis, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is described as having the ability to activate blood and disperse blood stasis. The mix was put to the test and found to ease neuropathic pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to averting TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Lombardy Chiropractic Clinic knows all this detail may not be your “thing” of wanting to understand as in depth as this, but we want to share the whole story if only to highlight how well frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great result!
